Self Managed Exercise / Health Programs
Self Managed Exercise / Health Program (SMEPs / SMHPs) are activity based interventions designed to improve a worker’s ability to carry out their everyday activities. SMEPs / SMHPs aid all “at-risk” employees – those that are recently injured, have re-occurring conditions, have early warning signs and those that are ageing.
P2 Group SMEPs / SMHPs are conducted by our team of Occupational Therapists and Exercise Physiologists. They are designed to promote recovery and reduce reliance upon ongoing active treatment through:
- Improving physical fitness/functional capacity
- Utilising adaptive and compensatory strategies
- Identifying coping strategies / support / resources
- Goal setting and evaluation of progress
Over the course of 8 weeks and 3 appointments, the self managed exercise program works through potential barriers by focusing on an employee’s strengths rather than their pain and / or incapacity by implementing a cognitive / behavioural approach.
